Why is the signal for network display always spinning?

Thanks for your question about network activity on your iPhone. I'd be glad to see how I can help.


In most cases, the behavior you are seeing is caused by an app or apps working in the background to update data. Does this behavior occur on both Wi-Fi and cellular data, or is it isolated to one of those network types? You can limit or turn off the background activity of apps by going to Settings > General > Background App Refresh. This will let you choose on which networks it occurs or if you don't want it to occur at all.


Adjusting the background activity can also increase battery life, so that's something to consider as well.


Let's also verify that you're fully updated in regard to iOS. The latest version is 13.3.1. If you're not sure of the currently installed version, check by going to Settings > General > About and if it is something earlier than the version I mentioned, back up your iPhone and then update. Info on both processes can be found in Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
