Photos App / Finder Catalina

After installing Catalina Finder does not work properly when trying to sync to iPhone or iPad , using the Photos app photos does not sync from Mac to other devices , some photos are there and others are not. I have eventually managed to delete all photos from my iPhone and completely rebuilt my Photos Library from scratch I have tried all the suggested fixes and have also been in touch with Apple support and after all that have been informed that it might be a problem in Photos or Finder and to wait for an update.

In desperation I paid extra i cloud storage and uploaded all photos to the cloud and down to my iPad and iPhone and everything was as it should be , after doing that i then had over 7000 photos in my recent folder on both the mac and other devices , sorry to long winded but apple support told me that after 30 days the photos in recent would disappear but they are still there and if i try to delete it will delete on all devices so any help on the above would be great and is a fix coming out soon as it would appear this is a long standing problem.

If finder is corrupted remove the finder plist from user library , also check the behaviour of photos in a new test user account https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT204443

The iPhone / iPad should be updated https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204204

You must have latest update in Mac OS catalina 10.15.3 , no anti virus / cleaners / unknown softwares / applications must be installed in Mac / iPhone / iPad

Boot into Safe Mode (Use Safe Mode to isoloate issues with your Mac) and try syncing from there. Then reboot normally and test again.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing some system cache cleaning, volume verifying and directory repairing.

You can sync selected albums from Photos 5.0 on your Mac to your other devices using the Finder. It will work,

provided

the albums you are selecting for syncing are top level albums. Currently you cannot sync selected albums, that are in folders.
and if your Photos Library on your Mac is syncing with iCloud Photos, all photos you are trying to sync need to have been downloaded from iCloud.

Why are you concerned about the 7000 photos in Recents? Recents is supposed to be showing you all items in your Photos Library, the same as All Photos. It is just sorted differently, by the date of the import, not by the capture date like All Photos. In my Recents album are all 53000 photos and videos, and they are staying there, none have vanished sofar.

Thank you for your information , but for me finder and or Photos 5.0 is is not working properly and often stops syncing part way though saying connection lost even when connected by usb.

In Photos why ( Currently you cannot sync selected albums, that are in folders.) ? All Photos were correct when using icloud no matter what folder they were in.

I have always transfered photos from my iPhone to mac thus freeing up space on phone . then syncing back to iphone from Mac which leaves the recent clear for new Photos. Also the people folder does not sync correctly and continues to to say syncing ( on phone and iPad ) when finder has completed .

Hi thanks for the feed back iphone is on ios 13.3.1/iPadOS 13.3.1 and mac mini on Catalina 10.15.3.

I have removed Finder plist twice etc tried safe mode and new user account to no avail , finder goes though the motions of syncing sometimes but photos from the mac are not all there and the peoples folder is missing some people and favorites , at the end of each folder / album still says syncing no matter how many times I try , also took 5 attempts to remove all photos from iPhone , then resync a new fresh Photo library but with the same out come.

Apple support finally said that they dont know if its finder or Photo app and to wait for an update.!!
