An unknown error occurred

My iPad was switched off for few months and I turned it on few weeks ago. It showed that it need an update so I tried to do that but in the middle of it I got an information that an unknown error occurred and that I need to log in to apple I'd, when I logged in it says that I have a wrong password (it was a good password), I reset my apple id password on my laptop and waited 2 weeks for my account reset. I changed a password, login on computer as usual and when I try to log in on my iPad I got a message 'an unknown error occurred', so I tried to reset the whole iPad but I can't because i need to log in to apple Id first and ipad would not let me do it. What can i do?

If this is a used device, you will need to contact the previous owner to have them log out of iCloud or go to iCloud.com/Find My Phone and erase the device, then remove it from their account. If you can’t do that, the device is useless.

Activation Lock - Turn off Find My iPhone

If necessary, if you are the original owner, take the device, the original purchase receipt with the serial number, and a photo ID to the nearest Apple Store.

or contact Apple ID Support. They will need to see the original purchase receipt/paperwork also.

Do you have access to another WiFi network where you can try? That has worked for several people.

Try a restart.

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Try a forced restart.

Reset Device

If necessary

Hard reset

Do a backup and try a factory reset. Then restore from your backup.

Restore to Factory setting

Backup - Restore your device from an iCloud or iTunes backup
