Apple watch won't connect after doing reset

I turned back on my apple watch series 1 after quite some time of not using it and got the red phone with the line through it. Looked up how to re-connect and ended up doing the hard reset by erasing the settings. This method had worked for me before.

Now my watch brings me to through the set-up stages of selecting the language and such but will not re-pair. I have restarted both my phone and watch multiple times, my bluetooth and wifi are on, no airplane mode. Using the viewfinder won't work. When I hold it up, the manual selection grays out and the cancel goes away like it's processing but that screen ends up going away and I'm brought back to the main Watch app screen after 15-20 seconds without it pairing. When I select to do manual, the watch itself shows up on my phone but I never get the code to continue setup.

Help please!

Try this;

  • Connect the Apple Watch to its charging cable, connected to power.
  • Whilst keeping the Apple Watch on the charger:
    • Press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider.
    • Press firmly on Power Off (do not try to slide it - just press down more firmly than a normal tap) and then tap on Erase all content and settings.
  • Re-pair the watch using the Watch app on the iPhone, choosing to setup as new..
