Just a question,

i’ve purchased the second generation apple pencil for my younger sister but she has a 6th generation ipad. will this still work?

No.

It will not.

The 2018, 6th gen iPad needs the 1st gen Apple Pencil with the silver band near the top.

You will need to exchange that 2nd gen Apple Pencil for a 1st gen one.
