When the MacBook Pro is rebooted it connects with sidecar for the first time. Subsequent attempts to sidecar keep returning the message "Unable to connect to iPad Pro - A miscellaneous error occurred (-6745)". Wireless or wired makes no difference. Can anybody shed any light on this?
13.3.1 on iPad and 10.15.3 on MacBook seems to have solved the problem. Connected, disconnected, reconnected a few times with no problems. Thank you

Try updating to iPadOS 13.3.1 to see if it resolves your problem.
Settings > General > Software Update
Also, make sure the macOS is, also, updated on your MacBook Pro.
MacBook Pro 16 2019 needs reboot every time to sidecar connect to iPad Pro 10.5
