Is my T2 chip bad? (Login and security issues)
Hello dear community.
I've been experiencing some weird issues with my 2017 MacBook Pro (TouchBar) lately.
It started with it not accepting my password when logging in. It would reject my password a couple of times, and then finally accept it.
Other times it would just straight out not accept it, no matter how many times I typed the correct password. Trying again hours later would have it accept it.
I of course tried with an external keyboard, to be sure that that wasn't the issue.
I then tried resetting the password in recovery mode, and through the terminal, which didn't help either.
Actually, these methods didn't seem to reset the password, as my password hint was still the old one.
I then formatted my Mac to factory new, which helped for a couple of days, until it again periodically started not wanting to accept my password. This leads me to believe it could be a hardware issue?
Another thing I started noticing was that when I needed to put in my password in system utilities (ie. giving software permission to use microphone, making changes in users etc.), my Mac would slow to a halt. I've attached a video of this below (Yes, I'm hitting enter as soon as I typed in my password).
I hope some of you bright minds out there can help me out with what is wrong with my computer. It's really annoying not knowing if I'm able to turn on my computer in the morning or not...
