How do I get a copy of the invoice for a Mac I bought from someone else?

I bought a Macbook air from an old acquaintance in 2013. He brought the mac from the United States of America to Brazil, arriving here he realized that he had not brought the receipt. The only information I have is the serial number of the macbook itself and the name of the original buyer. Is it possible to obtain a duplicate of this receipt or an invoice?
