I am trying to use F3 to search a webpage, but it won't work. I have the key functions (volume up etc.) set to be used without pressing Fn. When I do try to use the Fn key for the other functions, only F12 works.
How can I fix the Fn key?
As dialabrain said, F3 is NOT the default kind for Find, at least not in any applications I’ve used. Command-F is the default.
Maybe you had assigned this key in another mac but not this one. This is done in System Preferences->Keyboard->Shortcuts.
Normally the function keys are not assigned. You can assign them as shortcuts. FWIW "⌘F" is normally the find/search command.
Yes, I'm using an Apple keyboard. The problem is on my Macbook Air. The F3 key should be the default command to search a webpage, because as far as I know, I didn't change it. I know the key worked in November, because I used it a lot then.
A couple questions, are you using an Apple keyboard and what command did you assign to the F3 key?
