Accounting software operating on iMac.

We are considering purchasing an iMac for our home and business. The only thing holding us back is Accounting software. We are currently using Sage50 on our PC. Are there any accounting programs that will operate on an iMac with the bugs worked out???

Yeah there are LOTS of them. If you have access to a Mac now, open the Mac App Store and do a search for Accounting and you will find quite a list. Some are specialized into categories for specific industries and some are general accounting.

I checked them out and there is nothing available that is comparable to what we are using now.

There is however some conversations within this form about petitioning and running a program like BootCamp but nobody comes right out and says they are having success running Sage50 or QuickBooks on a Mac.

Can you offer or have some insight on Apple/Mac and their 'lack of' working with these programs?

If you are running Windows in Boot Camp you essentially have a MS Windows box. However another (and more elegant) solution is using a virtual app like Parallels. This allows you to run MS Windows inside Mac OS so they run simultaneously. So you can run your accounting app at the same time. Performance for an accounting app should excellent, if you were running a gaming or sometime of 3D graphics app that I'd suggest Boot Camp but you are not.
