Menu Button on Apple TV Remote Turns on DVD Player

Anyone know if there's been a solution to this issue? I recently bought a Samsung soundbar that is connected to my Samsung TV with an HDMI Arc cable. My DVD player and Apple TV are connected to my TV using HDMI. Everything works perfectly except when I am using my Apple TV and hit the Menu button, it automatically changes to one of the HDMI inputs and my DVD player comes on. It's very frustrating and I'm hoping someone has found a solution to the problem as I've read several posts (all a few years old) that tell me I'm not the only one having this problem.


I'm using a Samsung remote to work the TV, soundbar, and DVD player with no issues. It's only the Apple TV remote that's giving me trouble.

Apple TV uses a technology called HDMI-CEC which when you turn Apple TV on it will also turn on all other connected devices, like your TV, sound system, etc. Unfortunately it sounds like it is an all or nothing situation where if you would like Apple TV to turn on your TV then it will also turn on your DVD player. You can either disable HDMI-CEC on your Apple TV or you can unplug your DVD player.


Settings > Remote > Turn on TV
