Apple Watch Series 5 - screen not turning off when not on wrist

Hello.. I had an Apple Watch Series 5. I have Always On enabled. When the watch is off my wrist and not charging the screen stays lit up ( in dimmed mode ). This seems like a waste of battery to me.

I did a chat with Apple support and was told this is normal behavior.

Do others have the same experience?

Thanks!

Thank you. Okay, I've read it. So it would seem that even without a passcode, it should turn off. What troubleshooting have you tried? First, try resetting the Watch. Press and hold the digital crown and power button together until you see the Apple logo and then release. Test after that. If that does not work, then unpair and re-pair the Watch and iPhone and test.
