Convert Pages Document to Word

I use Grammarly to check my Pages documents. I have to convert Pages to Word to import it as Grammarly doesn't work with Pages. So I export my document to .DOCX format inside Pages, grammar check it, then open the .DOCX document using Pages. However, sometimes the conversion adds extra blank lines between paragraphs and adds carriage returns (looks like a left pointing arrow) and odd looking spaces between letter (looks like a period with a tiny upward pointing arrow above). Does anyone know if there's an app to convert back and forth between these two formats that avoids the above issues?

Thanks

Alan

Pages is not a Word clone so it is going to take poetic license when it guesses how to do the translation between .docx <=> .pages. Apple does not guarantee the accuracy of this translation, and they don't even keep Pages remotely current with the shipping Word.

Pages and Word use different layout engines, and there are features in either that are indigestible by the other, so one must be very careful when the output format is Word.

If you were using Word, you would completely avoid the document conversion nonsense introduced by Pages, and could use Grammarly directly in Word. Unlike Pages, Word opens, edits, and saves its native document content in the .docx format.

In Pages, this ↲ is a soft return; → a tab, and ¶, a paragraph mark. They are invisible characters when you toggle Show Invisible off (shift+command+i).

I didn't consciously create a non-breaking space because I don't know how to, so the conversion from Word must have added them. I'm looking at a program called Doxillion which converts from Pages to Word and vice versa. I wanted to see if it converted properly without adding the extra soft returns. I guess I shouldn't worry about the non-breaking spaces.
