CPU high after program install

After installing Celestial by Acustica I noticed FL Studio using higher CPU. I uninstalled the VST but the issue is still remains. I keep a close eye on the start up of my mac and noticed when my mac boots up the cpu is super high compared to before as well as FL Studio. This plugin is from a "trusted site" and is free to download and install.

To trouble shoot the issue I booted off a second drive with the same OS and FL version and no longer have the issue. This leads me to believe that the plugin Celestial may have changed something during the install that is causing my issue. Would any one have an idea on what I can do to fix this? Unfortunately I don't have a back up so reinstalling everything is my last resort.

It's not a problem with macOS. It can be an incompatibility with an app, a bad preference file, corrupted cache file, corrupted program file, etc. There are many possibilities, unfortunately. You can run through the following. This will fix some installation-related issues but isn't a fixes everything kind of procedure.


A Troubleshooting Procedure that may Fix Problems with macOS El Capitan or Later


You should try each, one at a time, then test to see if the problem is fixed before going on to the next.


    Be sure to backup your files before proceeding if possible.


  1. Shutdown the computer, wait 30 seconds, restart the computer.
  2. Disconnect all third-party peripherals.
  3. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
  4. Reset the System Management Controller (SMC)
  5. Reset your Startup Disk and Sound preferences, if needed, after resetting the PRAM.
  6. Test in safe mode to see if the problem persists, then restart normally.  Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac and Playing Safe - what does Safe mode do?
  7. Repair the disk by booting from the Recovery HD. Immediately after the chime hold down the Command and R keys until the Utility Menu appears. Choose Disk Utility and click on the Continue button. Select the indented (usually, Macintosh HD) volume entry from the side list.  Click on the First Aid button in the toolbar. Wait for the Done button to appear. Quit Disk Utility and return to the Utility Menu. Restart the computer from the Apple Menu.
  8. Repair permissions on the Home folderResolve issues caused by changing the permissions of items in your home folder.
  9. Create a New User Account Open Users & Groups preferences. Click on the lock icon and enter your Admin password when prompted. On the left under Current User click on the Add [+] button under Login Options. Setup a new Admin user account. Upon completion log out of your current account then log into the new account. If your problems cease, then consider switching to the new account and transferring your files to it - Transferring files from one User Account to another.

You are running 10.12.6. What is the minimum macOS version required by the software? Have you use Activity Monitor to kill the high %CPU process? Check for compatibility. See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps. Perhaps, there is an incompatibility between Celestial and FL Studio. Contact the developers for help. Meanwhile, remove Celestial through a full uninstall followed by restarting the computer.


You always must have a backup. You don't, so get one. No excuses like I can't afford a backup. You can't afford to not to have a backup.

10.10 and up is supported. The high cpu is only at start up and goes back down after a few seconds but didn't do that before install. Ive uninstalled the program and restarted. Unfortunately the issue still remains in FL studio and at start up. As far as the Activity monitor there is nothing out of the ordinary. Ill contact the developers and see what they say. Something had to have changed, possible something in the preferences folder? Would reinstalling the os fix the issue if its something within the system?
