Lack of sun tan where my Apple Watch usually is

I recently traveled south to escape winter in the US. My first day in the sun I didn’t wear my watch to avoid getting a tan line from my watch. In fact I still ended up with tan line mark where my watch usually is resting, without having the watch on my wrist. Has anyone experienced this?
