Some messages send as iMessage but others send as sms.

Some messages send as iMessage but others send as sms. Why?

There are several answers to this question however given the simplicity of your question, I will answer in the simplest way.

  1. Messages sent from iPhone to iPhone (with iMessages activated on both iPhones) --->> Sent as iMessage and received as such.
  2. Messages sent from iPhone to iPhone (with iMessages activated only on ONE of the iPhones)-->> Sent as SMS
  3. Messages sent from an iPhone to a non-iPhone-->> Sent as SMS
