it comes with a few brief instructions in the box, so I figured I would go to apples website to download a pdf of the user manual. Much to my disgust there is no manual !
ended up paying $10 for a book on Amazon that was semi highly rated

first time apple watch user, I want to learn how to use this darn thing and they don't make it easy

No. You're not missing anything. I haven't seen anything more sophisticated than a toaster that actually came both something approximating a manual in the box for years now. It doesn't matter who makes it.
I can see not having a 100 page manual in the box, but not to have one, period, is just crazy
I guess that is better than nothing, but I really want something I can print . I don't want to read a 175 page manual on my phone
If you load this on a computer browser you can right click on it and save as PDF,I did this for my wife in the opera web browser in windows.
