I'm using iPad mini (5th gen) and having trouble with the "rest finger to open" located in accessibility-home button. It appears to not working at all when I place my finger on the sensor, the iPad still does not unlock until I have to press the home button. Any solutions?

Have you tried a simple hard reset of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons?
Have you scanned your fingerprints in the Settings app under the Touch ID settings?
You need to setup Touch ID for this to work.
Try resting your finger on the sensor, and then while maintaining contact with the screen, swipe up with your finger.
It still does not work. I'm using the refurbished one which i have just bought recent. it may have something to do with the ipad because it's the refurbished one? Like there may be errors in software or hardware.
Unfortunately, I have tried that one as well but the problem still persists.
