iMovie on USB

I created a large video on iMovie (82GB) and I need to send it to someone vie USB. I saved it as .mov in my files. I tried reformatting the USB flash drive and was able to successfully save the video onto it! But.. when it got to the other person they were unable to open it on their PC without re-reformatting the USB (and erasing the data). Is there a way to get around this?

The USB drive needs to be formatted Ex Fat so it is compatible with both Apple and Windows.

So, you will need to start over with a correctly formatted USB.
