I have a flash drive and it is plugged into my computer. How do I put the video from the flash drive into imovie?

I have just converted a video to my mac on quicktime player. I want to use imovie to edit the movie. How do I move it from quicktime player to imovie I have just converted a video to my mac using Elgato video capture. The result is great. However , the only choice to place the file is in QuickTimePlayer. I want to file it in imovie so that I can edit the movie. Does anyone know how to move the file from Quicktime to imovie. There doesnt appear to be an option in the drop down menues.

There are a couple of ways to import a video from an external drive into iMovie. Easiest is to drag the video to your desk top and from there drag it into the timeline of an iMovie project.
