Visual Voicemail screen different after carrier udpate
Hi. I have an iPhone SE and iPhone 6S both running the most current version of iOS 13.
So a couple of days ago my carrier, Tracfone (uses Verizon), pushed a carrier update (40.1) to the phone.
Since then, there are some minor difference with the way Visual Voicemail is working.
To begin, my understanding is that Visual Voicemail only works if you have data set to on. It does not work with Wi-Fi.
Ok so, in the past, prior to this carrier update, whenever I've had data set to off, in the phone app dialer under voicemail it would show a message "visual voicemail is currently unavailable". It doesn't matter if wifi is on or off. This makes sense since data is off and visual voicemail doesn't work without it regardless of your wifi setting.
(note: in this image I had to turn wifi off as well to get it)
Since carrier update, now with data set to off and wifi set on, the message is missing. It is behaving like the Wi-Fi has enabled visual voicemail capacity. In actuality, visual voicemail does not work with just wifi on, but as i said the message is missing in the voicemail part of the phone dialer.
Data off, wifi on:
In addition, when I turn data on after having been off, and there are waiting voicemail messages, it is a little slow to bring the messages into the visual voicemail part of the phone app dialer. Before, they would drop nearly instantly once data was turned on.
These are not huge issues or anything, since VVM still works..but just curious.. is it solely a carrier update issue that brought this change (seems so)? I've tried various tricks including keeping on airplane mode for a bit, doing a forced restart, resetting network settings, turning siri on then back off, turning various settings off and back on etc to see if this would restore previous behavior, as well as asking Tracfone about it but they don't seem to know much about anything. Thanks.
