Hi when I have two devices under one apple ID how do I switch from one to the other to access all photos?

My phone is destroyed and it has pictures and videos of my dad who passed away four months ago...

I am desperately trying to get access to those. But I log in and because my son and I share a apple ID it only shows me his photos. I need to know how to switch to my photos... Can anyone please help?

iPhone X, iOS 13

If you were syncing photos with iCloud, have you signed into Settings/Your Name/iCloud and turned photos syncing on? Have you allowed time for the photos to sync? The photos sync in very, very slow.

If you weren't syncing photos with iCloud, do you have a backup you can restore from? Restoring from a backup erases all data currently on your device. Any data newer than when the backup was made will be erased. A restore is an all or nothing restore. You can't access a backup and only restore certain files.

Backup - Restore your device from an iCloud or iTunes backup. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204184
