Is the freezing only temporary when it happens or is there a step you have to take to get it working again? If it's ever completely frozen and unresponsive, try out the troubleshooting steps listed in If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't turn on or is frozen. To improve overall performance of your iPhone and prevent things like this from happening, make sure you're keeping the software updated. As of today you should be running iOS 13.3.1.
