I have a MacBook 13 inch that charges for a few seconds then stops. Light goes from Green to off. I have tried two different power adaptors with the same result so I think it must be the MacBook itself and not the charger or leads.
Tried resetting the SMC (several times) without success.
What next?

I haven't tried resetting PRAM but I tried the SMC several times.

Unplugging and reconnecting at the computer has no effect once the light goes out.
Unplugging at the wall lets you charge for another few seconds to maybe a minute or so. I actually saw the battery level rise from 6% to 7% so I think some charge is happening, although the process is so tedious that it cannot be sustained long term.
The MacBook was new in March 2016, so about 4 years old. No sign of battery degradation until now.

Unplugging the 240VAC (wall) adaptor "resets" the charger for another short time.
Unplugging the magsafe adaptor does not.
Both power adapters same.
There are no 13" 2016 MacBooks. Perhaps you have a MacBook Air or a MacBook Pro or a 12" MacBook. And, 12" Retina MacBooks don't have power supplies with lights on them.
Seems against the odds but to me that sounds like Capacitor problems in the chargers, though I guess some failsafe feature on either the Mac or the chargers could do it.
I'd make a Genius Bar appointment.
