Apple music skipping in car in IOS 13

I had this issue when I first updated my iphone 7 to IOS 13. It was extremely annoying. It might play one song, but if you try to hit skip to forward to another song it just keeps skipping and won’t stop on a song.

Update after update didn’t fix it and I tried everything I could think of - reset the phone, unhook it from the car, turn bluetooth off and on. It finally got fixed but I don’t remember now what happened to fix it. Was it one of the updates? Was it something I did?

Flash forward to today - I got a new iphone 11 - fully updated - and the bug is back. My husband also got a new iphone 11 and surprise surprise his is doing it in his car too. Really annoying. I wish I could remember what fixed it for me before.

I think we found the fix. Even though I turned on cellular for music - there is another spot through settings > music app > cellular data > streaming. I don’t recall this setting on the iPhone 7. It seems to have fixed the issue.

Hello THavas101,

It appears you’re having issues with audio quality using your iPhone. This only seems to occur using Apple Music, while connected to your vehicle. Is that right? I’m happy to help.

You mentioned you tried toggling Bluetooth off and on.

Have you tried forgetting both devices and pairing them again to test?

This article can help: If you can't connect a Bluetooth accessory to your iPhone

Would you happen to have a protective case on the iPhone?

If so, does the issue continue after removing the case?

Do you experience this while listening to Apple Music on the iPhone itself, or using the iPhone with any other Bluetooth device?

Keep me updated.

Warm Regards.

I have a very similar problem. In fact, I've put the blame on my car stereo & taken the car in multiple times for the same problem. The service technicians insist that it works fine for them when they test their devices.

The problem happens whether using Bluetooth or connected via hardwire directly into the car. And it ONLY happens in the car. (Car is 2017 Jaguar F-Pace)

I also notice that it seems to happen more while I'm moving - yesterday, I sat waiting for my service tech to come to hear what the problem is & while I sat there, not a single song skipped. Yet, on the 2 minute drive over, music skipped (& caught up) about 5 times.

The service dept put me in a rental car while they look into the problem, and though it was less often, the skipping still occurred in the Land Rover Discovery.

I checked my iPhone settings to see if they matched the above fix & the settings were already correct & matched the solution above. Iphone is Xs running 13.3.1

I could use ANY help - this has been an issue off & on for as long as I've had this car. (Though I think I had a period of about 1.5 years where it was not a problem.)
