When I use time machine to complete a back up, can I delete my photos on my MacBook hard drive to clear up storage space? I'm running out of room on my MacBook, photos are using up most of the space, but I'm paranoid I'll lose all of my photos and I don't really understand how time machine works, nor do I understand how to find those photos if I were to delete them from my hard drive (not my back up drive that I store Time Machine on).

Thank you.

Re "When I use time machine to complete a back up, can I delete my photos on my MacBook hard drive to clear up storage space?" --- No.

One option would be to move your Photos library to an external hard drive. See: Move your Photos library to save space on your Mac - Apple Support

If you decide to do that, make sure that you also backup that drive.
