Safari tabs disappear on iPad

Since the last update (iOS 13.3.1), I’ve noticed that if I press too hard on a link in an email, it opens that link in Safari but closes all other open tabs. I can’t just go into recent searches to find the tabs again since most of the tabs have been open for some time, and the search has too many other tabs that I opened and then closed myself. These were tabs that I wanted to follow up on, and now they’re all gone! This happens to me at least every other week or so, so it is very frustrating. Any suggestions?
