LAPTOP POWER MACBook Air 2015

Hi guys,

My laptop only seems to work when it is connected to a power source, otherwise it shuts down after a few minutes. Is it a battery issue or a problem with the cable?

Thanks for your help!

Either the battery is running on empty or the battery circuitry thinks it is. Two things: 1) look up at the battery icon in the menubar and tell us what it says. What’s the charge %? 2) In the Apple menu select About this Mac. Then click on the System Report button. In the left window pane find Power and select it. Now look at Battery information. What does it say about Cycle Count and Battery Condition? After you’ve had it on charger for an hour or more does it report the battery is fully charged? If not give it another hour or two and look again. If it never says Fully Charged you know you’ve got a battery or charging problem.

Hi! Thanks for your thoughts! I checked your suggestions and my charge percentage is 100% when it is connected to a power source. And the battery info says it is fully charged and condition is normal.

It is when I take the laptop off the power source that the battery seems to quickly drain, like after 10-15 minutes and a warning comes up to connect it to a power source again. So I'm guessing something is wrong with the battery but I'm not sure why.

Any more thoughts?

The best thing is to take it to your nearest Apple store or authorized service provider and have them check the battery. There appears to be something wrong with it and, since batteries can swell and possibly damage other parts, it's best to have it checked out before there is a problem.

How many charge cycles does it show?
