Mac Mojave with IOS 13.3 iPad

I want to sync my old Mac with Mojave to a new iPad with iOS 13.3. I am told I must install new software on the Mac. I assume this does not mean updating to Catalina but I want to be sure. Please tell me that it is just a harmless update for iTunes.

Software update is required to connect your iOS device. What is the update? I connected my iOS 13 phone to my Mojave Macbook and received a message saying software needs to be installed (see: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208831) Can someone tell me WHAT software would be updated and to what? Is this going to upgrade MacOS from Mojave to Catalina (I don't want that quite yet)? Is it going to replace iTunes (I don't want that quite yet)? Or is it just going to update iTunes?

Will iOS 13/14/15 sync with High Sierra and iTunes 12.8.3.1? I understand I need iTunes 12.8.2 to sync with the latest iPhones, but do I need Mojave as well? The newest MacBooks I have can't be upgraded past High Sierra. w

It does not. Its an update to iTunes only.

Thank you so much. It would have been nice if the info window had said that. Or if the App Store showed an update.
