messages in icloud not available

I received the error message "Messages in iCloud not available as iCloud and iMessage accounts do not match. Messages in iCloud is not available because iCloud and iMessages accounts are different". WTH? I only have ONE iCloud account. I've only HAD one iCloud account for many years.

I'm wondering if my iMessage account is hacked. I have problems ALL THE TIME with syncing, etc. with my iPad and MacBook Pro. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities. I understand that you're not able to use Messages in iCloud, as an error indicates your accounts don't match. I'm happy to help!

The message you're receiving means that the Apple ID you use with iMessage is not the same Apple ID you use with iCloud, or that you are not signed into an Apple ID for iMessage at all. To solve this problem, sign into iMessage using the Apple ID you use with iCloud: Sign in with your Apple ID - Apple Support.
