iPhone responds to text from android phone with iMessage to iPad.

When I text my wife’s iPhone from my android phone, sometimes her replies come back to my phone as a text, but often they go via iMessage to my iPad, to which I do not have access during the day! Is there anyway to determine to which device her reply message will be sent? Or stop sending me iMessages all together without turning it off for everyone else? Thanks for any suggestions.

Hello abergfeld,

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities. From my understanding, you're receiving text messages from your wife to your iPad as expected, but not to your Android phone. I'd like to share some information with you.

First, I suggest that your wife follow these steps on her iPhone:

If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If the issue persists, you may need to check out the following article for help receiving messages on your device:

Send & receive text messages in Messages

I hope this information is useful. Kind regards.

abergfeld,

Thanks for getting back to us after taking a look over those resources.

On your wife's iPhone, I recommend checking the conversation she has with you to see what contact method it's sending to. If it shows your Apple ID in the conversation, then these messages would be sent to you via iMessage. If she doesn't have any conversation with you being sent to your email, then on your iPad you can remove your phone number under "You can receive iMessages" by following the steps in the article below:

Add or remove your phone number in Messages or FaceTime - Apple Support

If the issue continues after this, have her backup her iPhone and then delete the current conversation with you before trying again.

If after all of this you still have this problem, I recommend reaching out to Google for further help receiving messages on your Android device: Android Help

Have a great rest of your day.
