Duplicate filenames, different photos

Í have 2-3 sets of photos which have the same filename due to coming from different cameras. I now know not to let that happen but these are now in Photos and only show grey boxes. Anyone have recommendations to remedy the situation?

Image files with the same file name are not a problem with Photos as it renames each incoming photo with its own special file name.

Is it only that two set of photos that are behaving that way?

Is the thumbnail also grayed out? If not check Photos' General preference pane and see if the option to copy files into the library during import is checked or not. It should be checked.

Yes the thumbnails are grey. The peculiar thing is with one thumbnail amongst a few grey ones there is a picture, yet when I click it another photo is revealed. I searched for the filename with spotlight and these two photos do share the same name. SO something is mixed up.

I have one set available in a folder and will probably attempt to reimport those.
