download Sierra 10.12.16

Where can one get a good copy of Sierra 10.12.6, as the copy in the App Store is corrupted, getting error every time. Says copy is damaged and cannot use it. I try to open and get the same message, so, to get the Download button to reappear you have to move to trash. I have done this countless times, and tried to DL 10.12.5, 10.12.4, etc... but, they are DMg files and not the Installer app which one needs to. install directly to say a flash drive. I just spent the last 3 days trying to recover from some sort of corruption to my SSD boot drive on my 2011 12,2 iMac 27", and this is the best working version for this year and 12,2 designation. I have a CCC SSD of same 128GB size, but I stupidly have them backup every day, so, by the time I realized the problem the copy was bad too. Change it to once a week now, so, this will never happen again. All this time, 5 years, I have had my trusty CCC backup to use for just this occasion; and, what happens?! Daggumit! Ja ja ja.... I did not think that through, but I just missed the backup timing by an hour.

If anyone knows if there is another reliable place to DL Sierra Installer App 10.12.6 please place a link here for us folks with this particular iMac year, 2011 12,2.

Included a few screenshots of what and where the DL took place at least 12 times with same message that the file is damaged and cannot be used. I get the same exact message when trying to open the Installer App.

Best, Seth

In October 2019 the certificates for several OS's expired, macOS Sierra being one.

Apple updated macOS Sierra with a new certificate which you can download here,

How to upgrade to macOS Sierra - Apple Support

This also includes a slightly different procedure on how to get the Install mac OS Sierra.app.

At Section 4 download InstallmacOS.dmg (this contains the full 5GB installer).

When that has downloaded open it and you will get InstallOS.pkg.

Double-click on that and an installation window will open, this will convert InstallOS.pkg to the

Install macOS Sierra.app which will be in your Application folder.

Unfortunately you will not be able to make a bootable USB installer as there is an error in the coding to prevent this.

But simply double-clicking on the install app in your Application folder should start the installation procedure.

Awesome Blossom Eau. Direct answer to my question. Very much appreciated. Very rare.

What reason could there be to allow folks to DL, as you see from the screenshots, only to have something one cannot use? Why does Apple do such htings, then, with your explanation, which I had already discovered playing around with it for hours, explained why in a few sentences? I have seen this many times, and only when talking with Apple senior advisors, even though my 2011 Apple Care expired long ago willing to help me step by step, and even take control of my iMac to help me out. It is as if they are aware of these contradictions of interacting with their customers which they must notice I have been since '83; and, so many devices registered, I have never had any trouble getting assistance. This always surprised me about such unparalleled Customer Service. Apple is the best, and I think love to keep us working at getting better at exploring our devices and SW, and able to get things working on our own, most times! Ja ja ja

Again, thank you much; and, I will no longer keep trying to make that bootable flash drive of Sierra 10.12.6. Daggumit! I really thought I could figure it out. Those rascals!

Best,

Seth

Say, while I have your attention, could you tell me what version of Photos can I use with 10.12.6, which seems the best for this 12,2 2011 iMac 27" with 2-internals SSD I placed in the optical drive space, and the one with the special long cord to sonnect at 6GB vs the 3GB from optical connection; but, that is only my CCC on my small 128GB SSD, but only use half of it with a number of symbolic links, which direct iTunes, Photos, Logic Pro files to external drives and have worked flawlessly for almost 10 years now. I had an Apple approved place here do the placement, their first one. They connected the mic cord to a fan, and blew the mic out. A week later we received a huge box, containing the entire iMac with no guts. The mic is part of the iMac container!!! We were all astounded, but it makes sense, and why the mic works so well from that little hole on top, center. Wild!

I put the 2nd SSD in after the expiration of AppleCare.

Any advice as to which version of Photos I can use, version 2 is all I can get from App Store updates, and is 10.12.6 still the best macOS for me to be using?

If this is not appropriate, please delete my question; and, I shall move it elsewhere. I have but a few moments to get this msg off... Adiós Amigo...
