Ipad can not detect Imac

I would like to mirror the screen of my Ipad pro, 9.7 inch, software version 13.3.1 on my Imac, 27 inch, late 2015. with mac os cataline, version 10.15.3. It worked once, last night, and then I did a software update on the ipad and screen mirroring does not detect the imac anymore.

I also have an Ipad pro , 12.9 inch, software version 13.3.1, and it never worked even once, not even before the software update.

I press 'screen mirroring' and then the little wheel keeps turning and turning but nothing is detected - even the ipads don't detect each other.

All devices are logged into my home network.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

I’m not sure that I entirely understand your question - as iPad has never been able to natively “mirror” its screen directly to an attached Mac/PC. A Mac running OS Catalina can extend its own display to an iPad using the Sidecar feature, but not the other way around.


An iPad can “mirror” it’s display to an HDMI-attached monitor, or an AppleTV via AirPlay - although it should be noted that the “mirrored” display does not rescale to the native monitor resolution.
