For a $1200 device it is very disappointing to not have a power button work properly. Don't give me the volume button assistance or go to setting bs. The button should work fine. I just got it 2 days ago and apple should already have a fix for this. This is lame.

It could be defective. Since your device is brand new, take it back to the Apple Store or Authorized Reseller. You have 14 days from the date of purchase to take it back or ask for a refund.
