Cannot connect to Apple ID Server

I'm trying to turn off Find my iPhone and I'm also trying to Erase All Content and Settings. Both require the phone to connect to the Apple ID server, which it is unable to do because the wifi adapter failed. Is there a another way to connect? It will not connect via cellular network.

No. I can go to it. But, it has me type in my iCloud username and password, but won't accept them. When I use the exact same username and password on my computer to log in to Apple, I have no problems. But, my phone won't take them. I have not recently changed the password, so it's not a refresh/synchronization issue. It really appears the phone is requiring the signal to go out via wi-fi. Unfortunately, the wi-fi adapter on the phone failed.

if you are the original owner, take the device, the original purchase receipt with the serial number, and a photo ID to the nearest Apple Store.

or contact Apple ID Support. They will need to see the original purchase receipt/paperwork also.

Eric,

What I described was what happened on the device. It seems that when you select Erase All Content and Settings or Turn Off Find My iPhone, the phone makes you log in with your Apple ID and appears to need wi-fi to authenticate. I was unable to reset the phone through iTunes with the iPhone connected to the computer because Find My iPhone is turned on (the phone itself), so iTunes won't let me continue.

Thank-you,

Laura
