iPhone 5s screen has gone dark, when you plug in charger the apple sign flashes

My daughter has a iPhone 5s ,the screen has gone dark ,when you plug in charger the apple sign flashes twice and nothing else happens it recently had a new battery fitted not sure if this is the cause.

That sounds like a hardware failure, possibly something that was damaged in the process of repairing the phone. It’s probably not the battery itself; a bad battery would have a different symptom. You can try the process described in this Apple support article—>If your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch won't turn on or is frozen – Apple Support but if that doesn’t fix it you can try the shop that replaced the battery.


In that model phone it’s very easy to cause damage when replacing the battery; there are 2 screws that hold down the battery connector that are different sizes; switching them will eventually cause a short circuit.
