Automatic update show me the update that needs to be installed but after restart it still shows the flash storage firmware update. I have tried manually downloading and installing the package but it says this package is not compatible with this OS .....

i have also tried fresh OS install of Catalina through recovery mode but it did not worked.

What version of macOS is currently installed on this laptop?

  • This laptop had Mojave previously and I installed mac os Catalina version 10.15.3 via recovery mode.

What prompted you to reinstall macOS?

  • I wanted the latest OS on my machine.

What happened when you tried to install Catalina from recovery mode? What error did you get?

  • There was no error in installing Catalina from recovery mode but when i checked if there were any updates then it showed me Flash storage firmware update 1.0 available. I installed it, the system restarted and showed the same update available again with a message that failed to install few updates. I tried to install this firmware via dmg from apple website and that prompted an error that this software is not compatible .....

Did you perform a clean install by erasing the physical drive first or did you just try installing over top of the current macOS?

  • Yes. Same results as above.

Has Catalina ever been installed on this laptop before?

  • No.

Are you using the original Apple SSD or are you using a third party SSD?

  • Apple SSD

Thanks a lot for your response

Exactly what flash storage firmware update are you trying to install? I'm not aware of any SSD firmware update for a 2015 laptop. Besides any firmware updates downloaded from Apple requires a specific version of macOS. Even though the system requirements may mention a specific or newer version of macOS, that is incorrect in my experience.
