I bought a brand new sealed unlocked iPhone 11 from a seller two weeks ago.
However, when I checked online using IMEI. I found that the iPhone has also been activated 2 weeks ago. The same day that the seller bought it.
What I don’t understand is, don’t you need to open up the box and switch on the iPhone to actually activate it?
How is my iPhone still sealed but activated?
Keep in mind that IMEI sites such as the one you went to are notoriously inaccurate. Have you checked your warranty coverage here: Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support
I assume that you did not buy the phone directly from Apple. Anybody with a shrink wrapper can seal the box shut again. I used to own a small business where we used a shrink wrapper for packaging all the time. It’s not a big deal to rewrap a box.

Nothing shows when the phone has been activated as that date is meaningless. If the warranty accurately goes back to the date when you purchased it then it is legitimate. The warranty starts the day the device is sold, not when it is activated.

Its not shrink wrapped. It comes in that seal with the little green arrow that you need to pull and peel. And I’m sure it’s never been opened before because only after I opened it, the plastic tore.
