Wanted to restore iphone. Confirmed a back up existed. After erasing phone the backup on icloud was gone. Last night saw that photos were on icloud. Looked at photos, played videos. Set iphone up to download and keep originals. Nothing happened. This morning there are no photos/videos on icloud.
Nothing in recently deleted either.
What happened to them and where have they gone?

I have seen that happen several times. I doubt you'll see them again. FWIW, I back my phone up to a computer or a computer and iCloud.
