Its been some time since i meddled to Mac OS, can't seem to remember how i use to create an installer. If i have the downloaded [.app], yeah i can use the Disk maker. But with a DMG, how do i create an USB installer with Disk Utility. So many tutorials out there, i just want to know which method does Apple recommend. Thank you.
If you have downloaded InstallMacOSX.dmg, double click on it to get InstallMacOSX.pkg.
Double click on that to open an installation window which will convert the .pkg to the Install OS X El Capitan.app. This will be created in your Applications folder.
You can then follow the link above in order to make a bootable USB installer.

My earlier reply was before i had tried the method.
I just did try the method, it works fine. The key is that the app. appears in the application folder. ( something i had missed before posting the thread).

Converting the InstallMacOSX.pkg will get you the Install OS X El Capitan.app, it will appear in your Applications folder.

You do not need app for this task You need to do it on Mac OS via terminal
I tried up to the pkg. was lost after that.

Even if i do the terminal method, assuming that its createinstallmedia, wouldnt i need the the app. format of the OS ?
