MS Outlook opens and then closes quickly

I have a 10.5 inch ipad pro. I have the Microsoft apps for Office 365, Outlook etc. Word, Excel and PP work, but Outlook wants to open but closes immediately. I did an update to the app. I tried a soft reset, but I think I was doing it wrong. I pressed volume up, then volume down and then held down the top button. I got the slider to turn off, but not the Apple as they said I would get. Can anyone help? Thanks so much!!!
