iPad airdrop cannot see Mac 2 feet away [but Mac sees iPad]

trying to transfer voice memo FROM iPad TO Mac running Catalina.

do not have access to iCloud.

file too large to email.

and they got rid of wired feature [in the direction of FROM iPad TO Mac. ]

so.

Mac [MacBook Air] airdrop sees iPad. iPad does not see Mac. both set to 'everyone'.

have tried iPad resets, restarts, bluetooth on/off, wifi on/ off,

tried sending files from other iPad apps, do not disturb off, some other things already forgot ...

For other devices connected to bluetooth, set to 'forget device' ....

what else could be making iPad 'blind'?

[do FM radio signals interfere? maybe this sudden sunshine in winter?]

thanks!!!

Have you tried restarting your Macintosh?

thanks.

No, but just now did a Mac restart and another restart of the iPad.

Mac airdrop sees iPad.

iPad says 'no one nearby to share with'.

btw, when I go through all the devices connected to bluetooth on the iPad, and select 'forget device', most stay 'forgotten' ; except for two that keep reconnecting. does that matter? [on the Mac, all bluetooth devices stay disconnected]

[in my experience, when I play music from my Mac to one of two stereos in house, bluetooth will only go to one stereo system at a time; pls forgive my ignorance on how these things work. but/and, what signal is the Mac meant to give out and what signal is the iPad meant to detect? and then, what 'interferes' with that?

thanks again.

tadah.

just turned off firewall on the Mac. and oila, iPad could see Mac.

the actual sending seems to take many taps to get it to actually send; and then there's a microsecond to 'accept' over at the Mac. and if you miss that, need to resend.

and I'm guessing that each of the 30 files needs to be done individually? [ah, the days of drag and drop...so easy]

thanks again for your help!
