After connecting to my remote airport extreme and attached hard drive a number of times from my MacBook pro via AirPort Utility, I noticed that I am no longer being asked for my 'password'.
On one occasion, I entered an incorrect password and to my horror was connected to the airport set up page. How is this possible? What can I do to fix this security risk?
Help would be appreciated.

Your airport should have an error that setup over wan is on and should be turned off.
Also you should be using a password that is long complicated and secure.
To help further we need to know the exact details of the setup. How are you remotely accessing? How is the TC setup?
It is easy to block all access but difficult if you insist on having some.

yes I had the WAN on. When I turned it off the problem was solved. I can still access the attached Hard disk. Thank you for your help.
