Brand new MacBook Pro - used only once - keeps refusing my password.

I set up my MacBook Pro while connected to a different wifi network (not at home), with no issues. When I returned home and attempted to log in, it rejected my password (I was able to log in via a browser on a different computer). I've restarted it multiple times. I've tried holding down "option". I can't connect to the current wifi, and I can't login to my MacBook.

Any ideas?

• Sorry for the lack of clarity:

The issue is that I can't log in to my MacBook using my Apple ID.

Here's the sequence:

I attempted, unsuccessfully, to log in to my MacBook using my Apple ID. I noticed that the MacBook was not connected to the wifi at my current location.
• I went to the browser on a Chromebook, and managed to login to my Apple account using the password. I changed my password, forgetting that my Macbook probably wouldn't know the new password without connecting to the Internet: nonetheless, both the old and the new failed to work anyhow.
I clicked the (?), and hit "Restart and show password reset options". Doing this allowed me to connect successfully to the wifi at my location. As I didn't want to reset my password again,• I just went back to the login page (I think I had to restart it again).
• Back at the login page, my Macbook appears to be connected to the wifi, whereas before it clearly wasn't.
• Regardless, neither the old nor the new passwords work.

What password are you asking about..?

Log in where on a different computer..?

Wifi password on your Network is one thing, If you can not log into your user account on the Mac seems a bigger issue...

You say brand new MacBook Pro... Did you migrate your old computer account to your new computer account?

The most trouble free way to move to a new machine, is using the Setup Assistant on the initial boot of a brand new machine— you have one shot here. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205749

If that opportunity has past, the second best way is use the Migration Assistant.
