virus warning?

Last night I was browsing on Google and then all of a sudden I got a warning that my iPhone was severely damaged by multiple Browser Trojan viruses. It said that I had to immediately install an app called Connection Defender or all of my data and applications would get infected and stolen. I had already installed the app but I didn’t sign up for the membership or anything like that and deleted it soon after. Does my phone actually have a virus? If not, did installing the app affect my phone in any way?
