Dell U3219Q Monitor with MacBook Pro

Hi All,

I have a Dell U3219Q monitor, which I am trying to connect to my Mid-2015 MacBook Pro (running Catalina).

I'm using a Thunderbolt 2 to DisplayPort cable (which apparently is doable, according to Amazon reviews) but on the monitor I am getting a message saying 'No DP signal from your device'.

What am I doing wrong?

Any help gratefully received,

Duncan

I found this, so I hope it works for you: https://smallbusiness.chron.com/connect-macbook-dell-external-monitor-56163.html

There's also this: Why is my Mac not detecting displays?

Go to the  Apple menu and choose System Preferences. Choose the “Displays” panel. Hold down the “Option” key to show the “Detect Displays” button – note that it replaces the 'Gather Windows' button. Click on “Detect Displays” while holding down Option to use the function as intended.31 Mar 2014

Your decision on the cable is not correct.

I run that same Dell 4k 32 inch display and have no issues with it on all my Macs, desktop or portable.

Use a minidisplayport to DisplayPort cable, just make sure you buy a high quality cable from Amazon.

I currently use the display with my iMac Pro and a Cal Digit TS thunderbolt 3 Dock. Since it has a DisplayPort connection , I use a DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable.
