I can't transfer a call from iPhone to iPad or MacBook Pro

Hi,

I use the Apple Continuity feature Handoff, which is wonderful. My problem is that it works everywhere else, but when I am in an active call, I cannot use Handoff to transfer the call from my iPhone SE (2016, bought in 2020) to my iPad 6 Gen (2018, bought in 2019), MacBook Pro (2019, bought in 2019), or my Apple TV HD 4 Gen (2015, bought in 2019). Whenever I hit the speaker icon on my iPhone during a call and select my MacBook Pro, iPad, or Apple TV (which I don't think is even capable of calls, but wanted to mention it anyway) the speaker icon is replaced by a MacBook Pro, iPad, or Apple TV icon for a few minutes, but when the audio of the call doesn't transfer after a few seconds, the icons returns to a normal speaker.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Luke

Hello LP26554312,

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities. I understand that you have some questions about using iPhone Cellular Calls, and I'd like to share some information with you.

With iPhone Cellular Calls, you can make and receive calls from your Mac and iPad when they're on the same network as your iPhone. However, you're not able to hand off existing calls. Learn more about the system requirements for iPhone Cellular Calls here:

Make and receive calls on your Mac, iPad, or iPod touch

Additionally, the Phone app isn't supported by Handoff. This support article might help explain which apps are supported:

Use Handoff to continue a task on your other devices

I hope this information is useful. Kind regards.

LP26554312,

Thanks for getting back to us with those additional details. Based on the video you shared, I see that you’re wanting to transfer an existing FaceTime audio call between your devices.

For this concern, I recommend making sure both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network with Bluetooth enabled. However, if you’ve taken the above steps and you’re still having trouble, contact Apple Support for further assistance:

Hello jeremy_v,

I appreciate your efforts to clear my understanding, but I am quite sure that using Handoff for active calls is possible because I have a family member who uses the feature quite often, and I would not see a reason for there to be a menu with call Handoff options if it was not possible. You may view the following video to get a better understanding of what I am trying to do.
