Will the iMac G3 boot with a faulty flyback transformer

I just want to know if the iMac G3 will boot if it’s connected to a external display and if the flyback transformer has failed I just want to get it started up so I can test it before I send it in for repair.

Mac mini on Target mode to iMac screen black Yesterday I bought a Mac mini as a way to speed up life. They said I could use my iMac 2012 display through Target Display mode and the right Thunderbolt 3 to Thunder 2 + mini display adapter. I bought all that and when I hit Command - F2 the iMac screen just goes black??? When I hit it again it comes back just fine on my iMac cpu again? The Mac mini displays fine on a TV I a using just to set it all up. Thoughts?

2022 Mac Mini M1 using 2009 Imac as a Display Question - startup issue Sorry as i know this topic is likely been beaten to death .... I have a 2022 Mac Mini M1 and want to connect to my 2009 Imac 24 inch (early using El Capitan OS). I have been following some community chats that position that unofficially one can link the two via connecting both units using a USB-C to miniport Display cable. I have tried this approach without any luck of having the Imac serve as the monitor. Any experienced guidance on what I might be doing incorrectly? Correct cable, start-up ?? Any thoughts would be beyond helpful. Thank you. Mark B

Hello,

It should still boot however iMac's diagnostic test may flag some errors. There is only one way to find out.
