Mirror iPad on MacBook via USB-C connection

I am trying to use the QuickTime movie recording feature to mirror my iPad onto my 2019 MacBook Pro. I only have USB-C ports available on the MacBook. When I connect the iPad to the MacBook, I am using a USB-C to USB-3 adapter. QuickTime does not recognize the iPad as being connected. The adapter is allowing information through because it is charging my iPad.

Any recommendations?

I have solved the mystery. It has nothing to do with USB-C connections. It has everything to do with MDM settings. We use FileWave to manage our fleet of iPads. One of the settings within FileWave was the culprit that prevented the MacBook from "seeing" the iPad when connected by cable. Allow pairing needs to be checked in FileWave.

Moving forward.
